Artist sTATEMENT:
When viewing the world through a lens, I find that there is a vast difference in the perspective of life, but not just what reality is through distortion, instead you begin to observe what is possible through imagination. Perception through a lens opens doors that I would have never thought would drive me to see the beauty in everyday events. The clash between realism and surrealism is where my eyes are captivated.
I lean towards the nerdy 90's grunge archetype and as such, my work has inspirational tones of the era, which can sometimes come out rough or jagged. When it comes to photography The aim for my work is to allow the narrative format to set the mood and have the observer be set into the world. Capturing moments in a candid style, or surrealism edit. When it comes to advertisement and graphic design, My work leans towards corporate minimalism, with modern symbolism.
Whether physical material or software based, art is a doorway to the soul, full of emotions. I believe each material has its own way of telling a story, however what you are feeling when creating these pieces has a way of changing it. Sheet metal gives a mood of rustic or harsh, whereas glass offers refinement and serenity. Just as a vector-based layout is clean and a photo is historic. These are what you can expect from these mediums, however they can also change depending on how you in vision each piece individually. Sheet metal work can be polished and change the narrative to clean and sleek. It is within this realm of controlled chaos that I find the reflection of myself; rough and jagged yet refined and polished; A creative contradiction.
